EquineWhat is the equine industry? If you love horses, care about their welfare, and would love a job where you could work with them everyday, then a career in the equine industry could be for you. Opportunities to work with horses are incredibly diverse, so you could be working in areas ranging from riding schools and livery yards to racehorse training. The UK spends over £2 billion on the equine industry each year. There are approximately 900,000 horses and ponies in the UK and 2 million riders, which demonstrates the country’s love of horses and the potential for making money in the equine industry. Riding lessons alone are worth over £500 million. Horses are a major asset for their owners, and need the skilled attention of devoted and well-trained staff. Did you know…? What opportunities are there for me? There are opportunities to work with horses in areas including riding schools, livery yards, events and competitions, clubs and hunts, and racing yards in careers ranging from grooms, to riding instructors, to horse breeders and jockeys.
